The last month of the year did not want to pass unseen, as if all of the year’s events were not enough to fill up the pages of the year’ s recap. It seems that the month of December will have a whole page dedicated for it. Let's review some of the latest news that made it to the headlines this month:
The highlight of this month was the arrest of Julian Assange, the founder of Wikileaks.org who was detained for sexual assault in Sweden! Wilkileaks: “an uncensorable system for untraceable mass document leaking” as the founders describe it, that makes available to the public many classified documents leaked from various sources including governments about very critical information be it wars documents or even confidential talks or e-mail exchanges between politicians. Can you see the irony?
Another big news is the terrorist bombs in Stockholm, Sweden – one of the most peaceful cities! The end of the world is getting closer :p !!!
Obviously some technology news: facebook launching its new profile page service “to give your friends the most current information about you” because nowadays your facebook profile is even more important than your CV – sorry LinkedIn :p
Another piece of news that made it to the headlines this month was Groupon – the deal of the day website, and one of the fastest growing companies – rejecting a $5.3 Billion offer from Google!
The new rise of the Google Android Smartphone, with the announcement that 300K Google Android are activated daily, and the big question mark whether it will beat the Apple iPhone sales, or take some of its market share! Well, with the G4 iPhone this might be a hard mission ;) Again the Google's empire pride smashed :s
More on the news, nature’s fury with the Snowstorms in Europe and the USA causing huge losses for airline companies and huge damages in many cities, not to mention an unanticipated increase in the oil prices!
Various young millionaires and billionaires (around 57), donating a big part their wealth to the “Giving Pledge” an initiative started by Bill Gates and Warren Buffet, probably the latter is seeking redemption :p
And of course with the closing of the year the Oscar and man of the year are always in the headlines with people debating weather “The Social Network” film will get an Oscar (I would personally vote for “Inception” to be the best 2010 film), or if Julian Assange will be the man of the year.
This and we still haven’t reached mid. December! What’s more to come? We don’ t know, but definitely December is making a Big Hollywood Ending for the 2010 year!
There goes the latest year’s recap:
And you, what do you think?
